Exciting News: Our New Sea Container Has Arrived!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our brand-new sea container, which will serve as a dedicated storage space for our mountain bikes and other essential equipment. This addition is a fantastic step forward in enhancing the resources available for our outdoor activities and community programs.

A huge thank you goes to our new Project Officer, Colin Hales, for coordinating this project and ensuring everything went smoothly. Colin, who is already a valued board member, has been working tirelessly to make this a reality. His commitment to our mission and enthusiasm for community development is truly inspiring.

Youth Zone Building

In 2022, CoMHAT opened their  very own Youth Zone Building  at  the the Boyup Brook Sports Precinct. This project was funded by Jane Kelsbie- Small Grants, the Department of Industry, Science & Resources – Safe Communities Grant & Rick Wilson – Stronger Communities Grant, supported by local businesses and the Shire of Boyup Brook.

Youth Zone is run twice a week by the Youth Zone Coordinator. Fiona prepares a healthy snack on arrival and fun activities for each session.

Year 5-7 from 3.30-5pm every Monday

Year 8 & above 3:30pm-5:00pm every Tuesday

The Boyup Brook Wellness Festival

The Boyup Brook Wellness Festival is an event held at the Boyup Brook Music Park Annually to celebrate all things Wellness and to bring the community together. In 2021, we were fortunate to have the amazing Yogi from Outback Truckers (7Mate), Tracey Barnett (singer / song writer and mental health advocate) and Jane Kelsbie Warren Blackwood MP take to stage. The crowds were entertained by the Boyup Brook District High School Rock Bands and enjoyed yoga and sound therapy sessions.

Mental Health Workshops

CoMHAT works together with the community to bring much needed Mental Health training workshops to the residents of Boyup Brook. In 2020 and 2021 we have run Safe Talk, Conversations about Suicide and Youth Mental Health Training workshops.

Mountain Bikes

In 2021 CoMHAT received funding from  Jane Kelsbie MP  to purchase 20 mountain bikes and safety gear. We are looking forward to exploring and adventures with the youth (and parents) of Boyup Brook with theses.

Tomorrow Man - Tomorrow Women

CoMHAT has partnered with Tomorrow Man for the past few years to bring events to the Boyup Brook community to have the much-needed honest conversations about exploring the impact of gender stereotypes in a changing world.

In 2021, CoMHAT ran a Gather session for women at Dalmore Shed and a Night with the Blokes at a local shearing shed. This welcomed the community to a non-judgemental environment and had a chance to engage in these workshops.

Cultural awareness activities

Thanks to a Regional Arts Grant, we were fortunate to have Lea Taylor join us at the Makers in May event organised by the Community Resource Centre to show us Aboriginal Basket Weaving and bring some culture to Boyup Brook. This event was attended by over 25 local ladies and they all learnt a new skill and took home a beautiful hand-woven basket.

Communication campaign monthly

At the beginning of every month, CoMHAT distributes a community campaign message to the community of Boyup Brook. We promote Movember, the Alcohol Think Again Campaign, Mental Health Week, Are U Ok day, and other campaigns advertised on the media. This is distributed via email to other businesses in the community, on social media, in the Boyup Brook Gazette and posters put up around town. If you would like to be part of the monthly communication campaign, please contact the CoMHAT office.
