Community Mental Health

Action Team

PURPOSE: To build a resilient and connected community & improve the wellbeing of community members within the Shire of Boyup Brook & surrounds.

About

The Boyup Brook Community Mental Health Action Team (CoMHAT) was built out of a need in the community to help to build a resilient and connected community and improve the wellbeing of community members within the Shire of Boyup Brook.

The group, founded in 2016 by Renee Knapp (Chairperson), Mary-Anne Inglis, Dr Michiel Mel and Jodi Nield was establised to identify ways to build resilience, improve wellbeing, seek to reduce the harms associated with alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, and create localised and accessible support pathways for mental health support by:

  • Actively supporting partnerships between community and service providers to identify and address local issues.
  • Provide a means to coordinate, implement and evaluate an evidence-based, whole of community approach in a timely and appropriate manner.

CoMHAT is comprised of 2 teams.

Every 3 years CoMHAT develops a new Community Wellbeing Plan.  This is developed through detailed consultation with the community and stakeholders and is focused around 3-4 key priorities.

Our Current Wellbeing Plan runs from 2024-2026 and has the following key priorities.
